Webinars
Current regulation: interactions and implications The volume of securities regulation proposed by authorities globally since the 2008 crisis is unprecedented. Each piece of regulation on its own is important, but what is the collective impact? Where are the overlaps and interactions? Henry Raschen, Head of Regulatory and Industry Affairs, Europe hosted a webinar to discuss the implications and likely outcomes of the current regulatory programme. |
FATCA: Are you ready? If the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) is not already part of your vocabulary, it soon will be. It has an impact on many key client processes, thus affecting us in several ways. It has already made headlines in the media, so chances are this is not the first time you are hearing about FATCA. FATCA is legislation that was passed in the US in March 2010. Its key objective is to prevent ‘US persons’ (individuals and entities) from using foreign (non-US) financial institutions to avoid US taxation on their income and assets. John Crager, Global Head of Tax at HSBC Securities Services (HSS), hosted a webinar explaining what FATCA is, how HSS is preparing for FATCA and highlighting what our clients should be doing to prepare for FATCA compliance. |
The new MiFID and its impact Providers of the investment services to the European Union from anywhere in the world will be impacted by the new Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (new MiFID). Henry Raschen, Head of Regulatory and Industry Affairs, Europe discussed the main provisions of the new MiFID and identified the implications, particularly for investment managers. MiFID II: progress and post-trade implications The second version of the EU’s Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II) is likely to be approved by the end of this year and come into effect in 2015. It will have significant implications for financial markets, including post-trade operations, as Henry Raschen explains 30 November 2012 |
Hedge fund industry questions AIFMD rules This webinar comprises discussion points relating to the latest developments and uncertainty surrounding AIFMD regulation, the release of the draft 'level 2' implementing rules, how the hedge fund industry is lobbying for changes and the likely consequences if the European Commission does not consider these concerns. |
